Sure But I'm sure you can understand there can be reasons not to share certain things also. Maybe when I quit making knives for my living I will give out details and why I like to do this or that way. Hi Robin, to share knowledge means not everyone can do the same thing What is in your hands while grinding or making the HT in terms of speed and precision can give you the edge above the other ones Regards Uwe In terms of general transparency I think I'm in comparison doing alright. There's a ton of makers/factories currently who want to give the impression of handmade but never show any shop work and could well be 95% cnc operators. I don't want to give these people anything.

I think we can see it in English-speaking KKF too, some makers have some secret steels (DT for example: " PM stainless (to remain nameless), super wear resistant (to remain nameless), and mystery carbon (also to remain nameless)", link) and are not willing to share... For me, it doesn't really matter which exact steel it is, give it a fancy name, like ROBINa (because female names are always sexier), add a number of your liking, let's say 69, and there you have it: this special HSS steel is called Robina 69. And now everyone wants it!!!

Witziges Teil.
